My Word 2021

If you’re not familiar with this practice, one chooses a single word to concentrate on for the coming year.

I haven’t done this in a while. Our lives are pretty good – the pandemic notwithstanding – so I let it go by the wayside. However, today I’m feeling the need to take it up once again.

I was forcibly reminded – several times – this week (actually, this year), that not everyone is an anal-retentive Virgo. I caught myself more than once nearly biting someone’s head off, either over the phone or via email. Sometimes it was pure forgetfulness on their part, others it was…I want to keep this blog fairly PG so I won’t use the word I was thinking of. The best I can come up with on short notice is, “idiocy.”

So, my word for 2021 is:

This is on an index card that will be pinned in a prominent position on the bulletin board immediately above my desk. Patience has never been one of my virtues and the older I get, the shorter my supply. This will be a constant reminder that not everyone is an anal-retentive Virgo!

I hope 2021 brings this pandemic under control. Until health officials say it is, wash your hands, practice social-distancing, and wear a damned mask.

My other wish for 2021 is that you are happy!
